Sign up at the top-right of the page.
Enter your team in the Team Input box at the top of the page. E.g., tropius umbreon sableye.
Enter your battles in the Battle Input box at the top-right of the page. E.g., azumarill hypno machamp W.
Use W or L at the end of the line to indicate win or loss.
Click Save battles to save to our database.
Your saved battles will appear at the bottom of your team's page under battle log.
If you need to delete an entry, check the box and click at the top-right of the battle log section.

Select your team from the saved teams menu below the Team Input box.
This pulls up a personal report for your team.
key wins: these are pokemon your team does well against.
key losses: these are pokemon your team is weak to.
all battles: the meta for all battles your team fought.
battles won: the meta for your team's wins only.
battles lost: the meta for your team's losses only. Use this to identify threats and misplays.
most common matchups: the opposing teams you face most. Look for matchups your team does poorly against. Brainstorm how to play them differently or tweak your team to handle them better.

Click the blue Generate anti-meta teams button below the colorful charts to auto-generate teams to beat the meta.
Scroll down to "Safe teams".
Click on a team to bring up its matchup matrix.
Inspect each team's matchups to get a feeling for how to play it.
1st column: your Lead's matchups vs the meta.
2nd column: your Safe Swap's matchups.
3rd column: your 3rd pokemon's matchups.
Scan down the 1st column to see all the pokemon your Lead loses to.
For each pokemon you lose Lead to, scan across the row to see how your back mons handle it.
Extra credit: enter the Leads you lose to into Battle Mode. Note the most popular backlines.
Use this info to plan what to do for all the leads you lose.
If you find a team with weaknesses you are not comfortable with, discard it and check the next team.
Repeat until you find a team that looks good to you.
Before investing in the team, try it at pvpoke.com/train. In just a few battles, you can tell if you like a team or not.
Extra credit: note the most popular teams in the top teams list on the main page. (Especially those you lose lead to.) Tell pvpoke sim to use them and check that your team handles them.

For advanced options, click . Then click the blue Generate anti-meta teams button again.

When you're ready to battle, click at the right of the Battle Input box.
Enter your opponent's Lead. Battle Mode shows you the top backlines for that Lead.
Enter your opponent's 2nd pokemon. Battle Mode shows you the most likely 3rd pokemon for the given Lead and 2nd.
Battle Mode also shows you the popular movesets for each mon and their corresponding fast move counts.
After the battle, close Battle Mode. Your entry will be automatically transferred to the Battle Input box.
Repeat until you finish your set, then click Save battles.
